So I was feeling creative. And it’s been forever since I wrote a poem. I’m not sure what genre of poetry this could be classified as, and I’m not sure it really matters too much either. This is kinda what I made this blog for in the first place, stuff like this, so here…
Green dots shine out
like stars in the stony black.
Stumbling into the dark,
a clatter emerges.
A whispered expletive, silence,
and expectancy of anger.
Silence, dragging on,
was that a door?!
No, just sounds in my head
as I creep back to bed,
wishing for sleep.
I was thinking about being creative and saying something here about how the plot or characters in Gran Torino were really great. But I’m lazy. And then I’d probably look like a nerd. So I’ll just say Gran Torino was a pretty good movie and leave it at that. You should go watch it.
I just had a great day and you know how some music just goes really well with a day? The lyrics don’t always matter, but turn up a song loud, jam out, and you’ve got yourself a wonderful end to a day. I’m really liking The Fray right now after staying up til 3 last night working on downloading mp3s for a music player. So here’s Vienna…
The day’s last one-way ticket train pulls in
We smile for the casual closure capturing
There goes the downpour
Here goes my fare thee well
There’s really no way to reach me
There’s really no way to reach me
There’s really no way to reach me
‘Cause I’m already gone
There’s so many words that we can say
Spoken upon long-distance melody
This is my hello
This is my goodness
There’s really no way to reach me
There’s really no way to reach me
There’s really no way to reach me
‘Cause I’m already gone
Maybe in five or ten yours and mine will meet again
Straighten this whole thing out
Maybe then honesty need not be feared as a friend or an enemy
But this is the distance
And this is my gameface
There’s really no way to reach me
There’s really no way to reach me
Is there really no way to reach me?
Am I already gone?
So this is your maverick
And this is Vienna
